Regattas are a time for boat builders to showcase their best boat-building skills, and put their vessels up against one another for the ultimate test of speed, agility and refined, Bahamian craftsmanship.
There’s also a no better time to experience unique Bahamian culture, delicious local eats and family-filled fun!
The second-largest regatta in the Bahamas takes place in late May or early June, each year, falling during Labour Day and/or Whit Monday holidays. Sloop sailors in class A, B, and C boats compete for cash prizes and bragging rights. Local vendors and artisans look forward to the weekend-long event to sell their products. Many Bahamians flock to the Long Island Regatta to watch the exciting sailing races, spend time with family and friends, and enjoy delicious native food and drinks as well as tons of entertainment and exciting events.
Visit us this year from June 1-4, 2022, as Long Island hosts its first regatta in two years since the pandemic. It promises to be an invigorating experience!
